episode #3 = songs of service

This week on Mae Out West, we’re honoring the artists who traded dance halls for duty.
Bob Wills didn’t just serve , he mobilized his fame, raising millions in war bonds across Oklahoma, Texas, and California. Ferlin Husky spent five years in the Merchant Marine, entertaining troops aboard transport ships , his ship even took part in the D-Day invasion of Cherbourg.
And for me, this episode hits home.
My father served in Vietnam.
My husband was among the first Marines deployed to Afghanistan after 9/11.
That legacy of service runs deep in my family , and in the music I love most.
