Howdy & Mabuhay friends!
Mae Out West is my Western Swing and honky tonk radio show and podcast, where I feature music, interviews, and culture from the heart of the scene. My love for radio started early. As a teenager, I interned at Santa Clara University’s KSCU and later studied radio communications under Phil “Phil Dirt” Dirt at Foothill College (KFJC). I went on to launch my first show, Dinner Bell Roundup, on KDRT 95.7 FM.
After taking time to raise my family and build a career in law enforcement, I returned to radio with a deeper sense of purpose and began expanding Mae Out West across multiple stations and platforms.
I’ve had the privilege of interviewing artists including Leon Rausch, Bill Anderson, Billy Mata, and Tony Booth, and I was honored to be inducted into the Western Swing Hall of Fame.
Outside of the show, I lead Mae McCoy and Her Neon Stars and have performed alongside Deke Dickerson, Big Sandy, Rosie Flores, and Dale Watson. My album At Sundown, produced by Justin Trevino and recorded at Heart of Texas Studio, reflects my connection to traditional Western Swing and honky tonk.
I also run Neon Star Records and work with artists and creatives to clarify their online presence and present themselves in a way that reflects who they really are.
Mae Out West is about preserving the sound, supporting the artists, and keeping the culture alive.
